Can Faiz assist Mohammed Abdullah with zakah, sadaqah, or other aid due to his severe need?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have a doubt on zakah issue, one person named Mohammed Abdullah is a son of an alim and an graduate his income is very less which is sufficient for their family member of 6. He is getting married in some small duration of time due to the difficulties encountering him to arrange the money (he doesn’t want to up for loan from bank), hence one of his friends Faiz wants to give zakah amount to him due to his severe need. Because Mohammed Abdullah does not have any or not at all have any means of source of income to arrange the amount. Is it permissible for his friend Faiz to give him zakah amount. If it is not, is that he can give him as the sadaqah or else, can Faiz give him in any means because he is very much in need. Please reply me soon its very urgent!

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

If Abdullah is poor and entitled to receive zakah then Faiz may give his zakah to Abdullah. If Abdullah is sahib-e-nisab then it is not right to give zakah to him. Yes, he may be supported by nafl sadaqah or donation. It is mandatory for Abdullah to avoid extravagance in marriage and do nikah with simplicity according to sunnah. A marriage that bears less expenses is the blessed one.
