Is the nikah valid in the state of haiz (menses)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am getting married in the next month (February 20) in-shaAllah, but I may get my menses on my wedding day. I wanted to know would my nikah be valid in such a state. On the other hand, if I take pills to postpone my periods, would I be called ‘paak’ and my nikah will be valid in that situation and would it be alright in the light of Shariah to share bed with my husband in condition when I have unnaturally stopped my menstruation.

Taharah and purity is not a condition for nikah. Nikah is valid in the state of menses as well. However it is haram to have sexual relation in the state of menses. If the menses are postponed by using medicine before it starts and you do not see the blood, then you shall be considered tahir (clean and pure) and it shall be lawful for you to have sex with your husband, but it may be harmful for your health.
