Should a person who made a mistake while following an Imam in Jamat do sajda e sahav?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If a mistake has been committed by a person who is following Imam during Jamat in salat (namaz) so what he should do, whether to do the sajda e sahav or there is no need to do that. Kindly provide your opinion on this,

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 181/133/D=02/1435)

It is not clear what type of mistake was committed by the muqtadi. However, if he has left any wajib or similar acts then his salah will be valid and there will be no need to do sajdah sahv (remedial prostration):
ففی البدائع: فاما المقتدی اذا سھا فی صلاتہ فلا سھو علیہ (1/420، دارالکتاب)
But if a muqtadi leaves any fardh (obligatory act) then his salah will not be valid. Therefore, it is better to clearly mention what mistake he committed and ask the question again.
