Can women in our family wear sarees if covered fully & only for events like weddings or parties?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My family members are strict followers of Islam and do not allow my mom ,wife and other women in family to wear saree/sari which is usual custom in India. Can women in our family wear saree if they cover their body completely and on occasions such as marriage or party only?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 1478/1472/N=11/1434)

In areas where saree is not the special dress of non-Muslim women, the Muslim women can wear saree in home or marriage occasions. It will be lawful for them provided they do not uncover any parts of body (which are to be covered by Shariah) in front of other women and men other than their husband. But it is good for women to wear shalwar, jumpher since they cover the body parts in a better way.
