Can OCD justify excessive water use during periods in Islam?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have a mental problem called O.C.D. during my periods I get extra cautious and wash hands before touching anything. I take 30 minutes for urination and 2-3 hrs for bathing. Actually I feel that the bucket, mug, tap and bathroom becomes impure if I use them in my periods so I wash mug 3 times and then pour water over the tap, walls, door and floor of the bathroom to make them pure. While bathing I do the same and I also wash the stool on which I sit. My family says that ISLAM does not allow to waste water or trouble yourself. I want to know that if I am doing right or not. Please help soon.

(Fatwa: 1477/1003/L=11/1434)

What your family members say is alright. The body of woman or the things she touches do not become impure by touching and sitting if is it not smeared with blood. Therefore, there is no need to wash all these things unnecessarily. It is also needless to take so much time for bathing. If you will continue doing so, you will contract the illness of doubt. Therefore, you should not pay attention to it.
