What is the Imam’s intention behind performing Taraweeh and regular Namaaz with money?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If any Hafiz is given money for tarawih or he asks for money for tarawih prayer held in Ramadan. Will tarawih behind such Hafiz valid? Or only the Hafiz is sinful if this payment is not allowed. And what is the condition when salary of Imam is fixed for regular prayer.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 1297/1297/M=11/1434)

It is unlawful to offer money for leading tarawih and for Hafiz it is unlawful to demand it. No doubt salah shall be valid behind a person who takes money for leading tarawih salah but it shall be makrooh. Both the persons i.e. one who gives money and one who takes it shall be sinful. If money is not paid then the person who does not give it shall not be sinful. However, if there is none who could lead tarawih salah without money, in this case tarawih should be offered reciting Surah al-Feel. The salary of imamah is lawful for the person who leads five times salah. However, it is not correct for permanent imam to take compensation for tarawih salah.
