Does a husband have to pay zakah for the mowajjal (payable at later date) amount of mahr?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 1513/1246/H=11/1434)

When the husband will pay the mahr to his wife then the ruling of zakah shall be applicable. If zakah is wajib that time on wife then she will have to pay it, it shall not wajib on the husband to pay zakah on behalf of his wife that time as well. Yes, if he pays it with her permission then it shall be valid without any doubt.
