Can reciting Quran sawaab help the diseased?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have to ask that is it mentioned in the Quran or Hadith that benefits of reciting Quran can be sent to the deceased. If yes, please provide me with the hadith No. I need to know it because whenever I read Quran I make dua for my Marhoom (late) father but few days back someone told me that reciting Quran is not for the deceased.

Your practice is alright and perfect. It is mentioned in Mirqat, commentary of Mishkat:
أخرج أبو القاسم سعد بن علی الزنجانی فی فوائدہ عن أبی ھریرۃ قال قال رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم: من دخل المقابر ثم قرأ الفاتحۃ وقل ھو اللہ أحد والھکم التکاثر ثم قال انی جعلت ثواب ما قرأت من کلامک لأھل المقابر من المومنین والمومنات کانوا شفعاء لہ الی اللہ تعالی
It means that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said: If a person enters into a graveyard and recites Surah Fatiha, Sura Ikhlas and Surah Takasur and sends the rewards to the dead Muslims men and women, they will intercede him before Allah. (Dar Qutni, Bab Ziyarat al-Quboor 4/82)

There are other narrations in this regard. Allama Ibn Taimiya in his Fatwas and his disciple Allama Ibn al-Qayyim in his book Kitab al-Rooh has explained this matter in detail. Briefly, it means that it is established the rewards of the good deeds can be dedicated to the dead.

Allah knows Best!
