Do I need to pay zakah on money I gave to my brother, which he will return later?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have some money Rs 1 lakh and given to my own brother for his need. He said he will return whenever he gets money and in-shaAllah I will not ask for money till he gives or able to give. Now my question is that do I have to pay zakah for this amount, which he will return later, no idea when I will get. If he didn’t give also I will not bother/ask. Please give me the answer as per Shariah.

In the question mentioned above, if you have not absolved your brother from the loan then its zakah shall be wajib on you each year. However, it shall be wajib on you to pay it after you receive the amount. However, if you pay its zakah each year without waiting to receiving the amount back then it is also alright.
