Q: Can I watch videos and lectures by sheikhs? I’ve read that Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen explained that pictures contained on a video tape and the like are stored in the form of electro-magnetic waves, hence they were regarded as permissible by those who do not regard photographs as permissible. I’m not sure of his opinion because I’m afraid he might be a salafi or a wahabi.
A: We are of the opinion that all photography (of any kind) is not permissible.
The Shaykh is from among those who are termed Salafi. We do not accept his opinion on this issue.
