Gargling in Ghusl

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: Is gargling Farz (compulsory) in gusul or is just rinsing the mouth with water Farz, whether a person is paak (not in need of a bath) or napaak (in need of a bath)? I have heard that gargling is not farz in gusul.

A: Gargling is NOT Faradh in ghusl. What is faradh is to rinse the mouth in such a way that water reaches the inside of the mouth completely.

To gargle is mustahabb.
