Moving in Iddat to Settle Debts

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: If a women who is in iddat (waiting) period is in need of selling her house, to pay the debts of her deceased husband is she allowed to move during the four months and ten days in order for her to pay the debts off as soon as possible?

A. If the only way to settle the husband’s debts is to sell the house, then it will be a valid reason for the widow to shift from there when the house goes up for sale.

Allah Ta’aala knows best.
