As a woman do I have to cover my feet whilst I pray?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have a few questions please can you answer them for me? 1) As a woman do I have to cover my feet whilst I pray namaz? 2) If one has let out air and broken their wudu, does this mean I have to wash my private parts before making wudu again? 3) I’m 2 months pregnant and get tired very quick can I sit down and read my namaz? I look forward to your advice.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

While offering salah, it is necessary for a woman to cover her whole body with the exception of her hands, feet, and face. Therefore, as long as her ankles are fully covered, it is permissible for her to keep her feet bare.

It is not necessary to wash the private parts after breaking the wudu in the scenario mentioned in the question.

If it is difficult for a pregnant woman to stand for long periods of time, she should offer her fard, wajib, and sunan mu’akkadah salahs with short, concise raka’aat. If it becomes very unbearable, she may offer these salahs sitting down.

She may, however, perform the remaining of the sunnah salahs, as well as nafl salah, sitting down.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
