I dont want to throw my marriage away. what do i do?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have been married for a year now. I got into a huge fight with my husband a couple of weeks ago because he doesn’t respect me and doesn’t treat me right. He started lying to me and even though i kow hes lying he says hes not and thats want really makes my blood boil!!!  he used to be so sweet at the start of our marriage and now it just turned to hell as the months went on and on.. Im living with my paretns now. i still love him so much but i dont want to be with him if he doesn’t treat me right. Before i went to leave with my paretns i heaard that he was just using me and doesn’t really love me and that his mum is in on everything and shes the one whos guideing him … blah blah blah…… I was considering a divorce but now i don’t think i want to anymore. my paretns however want me to divorce him and leave him. I cant though cause i LOVE HIM…. i dont want to make my parents mad at me but then again i dont want to throw my marriage away. what do i do??????? Im lost and i dont know….

YA ALLAH HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!! :'(

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

Sister in Islam,

Our advice is two senior persons from both families represent s each one of you to intervene in the matter. The senior persons should be balanced and fair-minded. They should listen to both of you and advise how to amicably resolve the issue. If these issues cannot be addressed in this way, then we advise you to make Istikhara and seek Allah’s guidance whether you should continue with the marriage or not.

While we understand the love factor you refer to, marriage comes with responsibilities as well. If a spouse faults in his/her responsibilities, the love will turn into hatred and destroy the purpose of Nikah, being peace and harmony.

Also turn to Allah with Du’aa and Zikr. We make Du’aa Allah guide you and grant you happiness. Aameen.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
