Working as an Accountant in a Restaurant Bar and Lounge

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I work as an accountant in a restaurant bar and lounge where people have food as well as alcohol, is my earning halal or haram?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

As an accountant, you are simply recording transactions. You are not exactly involved in the haraam dealings. Your income will be halaal. [1]

However, as Muslims we are aware to places of haraam, like haraam food and intoxicants. It is advisable to avoid being in such places or working for such companies.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
