Can you call the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alahiwasallam) Habibullah?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Can you call the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alahiwasallam) Habibullah? Is there proof from sahih hadiths of the name every being used to refer to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alahiwasallam)?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The quality of “Habibullah” is established in hadith. Rasulullah salla Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

ألا وأنا حبيب الله ولا فخر(الترمذي، أبواب المناقب)[1]

Behold! I am “Habibullah” and I do not say this out of pride (Tirmizi)
