Miscellaneous questions about wudu and ghusal

Mouth: Does water have to reach all over the mouth?

Ears: To what extent do we wipe the ears? I take like 4 minutes or more doing mine being very cautious in trying to make sure the inside of the ear is wet and same with the outside, so if I just run my fingers through without care is that OK?

Head: Is it just the hair or is it the skin as well?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

• Ø Rinsing the mouth thoroughly is sunnah in wudu,[1] and necessary in ghusl.[2]
• Ø While doing masah (wiping) of the head during wudu, it is sunnah to clean the ears with ones pinky finger.[3] In ghusl it is necessary (fardh) to pass water through the inner earlobe.[4]
• Ø Doing masah of 1/4 of the head is fardh (necessary) in wudu.[5] In ghusl the head has to be washed thoroughly.[6]
