Family fighting amongst each other

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

In my house there is no happiness and everyone is fighting a lot.my parents are fighting a lot and it hurts me to see them like this. What can I do to bring happiness in to the house and stop them fighting.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We understand the pain and frustration of a fighting and unhappy home. May Allah Ta’ala remove your pain, grant you peace and happiness, and fill your home with love, harmony, and happiness. Ameen.

You may consider the following in order to address the issue:

  • Speak to your parents directly. Explain to them how their arguing is directly affecting you. If you observe anyone doing something which is unprincipled, bring it to their attention with love and care.
  • Express your sentiments to a family member that you trust and are comfortable with, or a close associate of theirs who has some influence over them and thus be able to explain to them.
  • Express your concerns to a local scholar, who could speak with your parents.

We would also advise you to start taleem from Fazial Aamal by Moulana Zakariyya (Rahimahullah) in your house daily for 10 minutes as a family. Fazail Aamal has advices from Qur’an and hadith, and has stories of the pious people of the past. This has the potential to create a revolution in the heart. We encourage you to read Qur’an, do zikir (remembrance of Allah) and attend the various programs ulama (scholars)conduct in your locality.

Most importantly, continue making dua to Allah Ta’ala to soften your parents hearts and lessen their differences. Allah Ta’ala is the controller of hearts and only to Him can we rely to remedy the situation.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
