Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Does this constitute kufr.

Saying to my sister that you should not marry someone who is conservative and will tell you to wear hijab.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected brother in Islam,

A person who adheres to Shari’ah is not a “conservative” person, rather he is an adherent of Shari’ah. It is incorrect to advise someone not to marry an adherent of Shar’iah implying that she should marry a non-adherent of Shari’ah.

Whilst such an advice is a serious offense in Shari’ah and one should repent from giving such an advice, it does not constitute kufr[1].
