Is there penalty of damm if strands of hair fall while in Ihram?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

My question is regarding Umrah. On Umrah visit I was in Ihraam and while having my lunch one hair from my beard accidently came into my mouth and got plucked or broken . Do I need to pay anything for that or my Umrah is valid. Also my kids were with me of age 2 and 5. I use to do tawaf for Umrah holding my younger kid aged 2 on my shoulder and she also use to play with my beard. Although I know to my best that none of my hairs (head and beard) was plucked but please advise what should be done if it get plucked.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Whilst in the state of ihram, if one strand of hair from your beard fell off involuntarily, then there is no penalty (damm).[1]

If you are certain that no hair fell off, then you do not have to give any penalty (damm).
