Is it necessary to remove the impurities in the fish before consuming?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

What Shariah says about the fish dung (waste). If someone cooked fish and when he cut into to parts he saw the dung inside the stomach. should he leave and throw this fish in the garbage or it is allowed to remove the dung and eat the flash? how much dung is not considerable?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is necessary to remove the impurities in the digestive track of fish before consuming it. [1] However, in the case where it is difficult to remove the impurities of the fish due to it being small, there will be no need to remove it. [2]

Generally, when fish is cooked without cleaning the digestive tract, the intensity of the heat results in the permeation of the impurities in the digestive tract into the flesh. Therefore, it will not be permissible to consume the fish.
