Does Allah forgive a deceased person upon whom more than 200 people have offered Salatul Janaazah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalaamalaikum. Long time back in a bayaan I have heard that if more than 200 people pray salah behind a Janazah Allah (SWT) forgives all the sins of the dead person. Can you please clarify the same in reference to some Hadith. Jazak-Allah.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

There are numerous Ahadith in which the Prophet Salllallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has mentioned that those who will perform Salahtul Janaazah upon a deceased person will also intercede on behalf of him.

“There is no Muslim who passes away upon whom a group of forty people perform his Janaazah Salah who have not associated partners will Allah but that they will intercede on his (deceased person) behalf.”

“There is no deceased person upon whom a group of hundred Muslims have performed Janaazah Salah, each one will intercede for him, but that he shall be interceded.”
