Should the beard hair that extends towards the neck be washed during Wudhu?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

In ablution (wudu), it is said to wash the beard if it is thin. My question is that if beard extends up to neck, then how far should we wash the thin beard as other rule of ablution in Hanafi view prohibits even  masah (pass wet hands) of the fore-neck ?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If one has a light beard i.e. the skin under the beard remains visible, it is necessary that the water reaches the facial skin.[1]  The hair that grows beyond the bottom of one’s chin does not need to be washed during Wudhu. [2]
