Can the owner of a slaughterhouse sell the skin of a qurbani animal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

During Qurbāni, can the owner of the abattoir sell the skin of the animal that people leave behind and what should he do with the money? Furthermore, can he keep the money and give meat in charity in exchange of the money?

Answer

Qurbāni meat holds the same ruling as the skin of the Qurbāni animal.[1]

It is permissible for a person to make use of the skin while maintaining the original structure by manufacturing the skin into for example, a carpet or a container. However, if the skin is sold then it will be compulsory to give the amount received in lieu of the skin in charity.[2]

It is not permissible for one to give meat in exchange of the money in charity.
