Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh

Hadhrat ‘Umme Salma radiyallahu anha narrates that Nabi sallallāhu alayhe wasallam preferred the kurta over all other types of clothing.

 (Tirmizi sharīf, Vol.1, Pg.306)

Nabi sallallāhu ῾alayhe wasallam approved of pajāma, he purchased one and according to some narration he even worn it, however, the normal practice of Nabi sallallāhu ῾alayhe wasallam was to wear lungi.

(Fatāwa Mahmūdiyyah, Vol.19, Pg. 275)

Hadhrat Ibn ῾Abbās radiyallāhu ῾anhu reports that lengthwise the kurta of Nabi sallallāhu ῾alayhe wasallam would be above his ankles while the sleeves would reach up to his fingers. ῾Allama Munāwi rahimahullah writes in his commentary of this hadīth that it is learnt from the coupling of another narration with this one that “Above the Ankles” means the middle of the calf (halfway between the ankles and knees) just as it has been reported in other narration.

 (Faidhul Qadīr Vol.5 Pg.173)

And Allāh Ta῾āla Knows Best
Wassalāmu ῾alaykum
