(1) Are Ladies permitted the use of Henna mixed with Black Dye for prermature gray Hair. (2) Can the Wife have an argument with the husband to rid him of his un-islamic practices. (3) We are Living in a Non Muslim Country and due to Terrorist activities which has male and female suicide bombers most police checkpoints along the streets have males and women who are observing full purdah are put in great inconvenience as they have to reveal their face at the check points. Please let us know how women should conduct themselves in such an instance. (4) Husband is staying away from the wife and carries an illegal relationship with a non-muslim woman. However, when he vists his legal wife and children he has sex with her also. (a) Can the wife refuse sex with the husband as he is living in sin (b) Will the legal Wife be committing a sin and be subject to the curse of the Angels in refusing sex to the legal husband ?. (c) Is it correct to entertain the husband inside the house with the family members due to this behaviour. (d) Can the wife call for a divorce ? All modes of Advice from the children and close family members haven?t seen any results. Please advice as the family’s dignity and reputaion is at stake (5) Teach us a Sura or Dua that we can read to conceive a male child as we already have daughters

Answer

1. It is permissible if used to beautify one’s self for her spouse only. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Vol 5 Pg 123 Mazhari)

2. She must adopt abundant use of Hikmah (wisdom and tolerance) in advising him to abstain from wrong practices.

3. One should try and convince personnel at these check points of the importance of Hijaab to a woman in Islam and at least try to be exempted or request a female officer to carry out the inspection in private. If, however, all requests are met with refusal and failure to comply may place one in difficulty, then she may reveal her face under such duress.

4. a,b) She may refuse on the basis of fear that some immoral disease may be transmitted to her as a result of his irresponsible and sinful behaviour. In such a situation, she will not be under the curse of the angels. However, if the reason for him carrying out this affair is because of her initial refusal to share his bed, then she is advised to allow him conjugal rights after : a) reasonable surety that he is not carrying any disease b) he makes a full tawbah (repentance) and undertakes not to commit this sin in future.
c) It is correct to show indifference and a cool attitude towards a known perpetrator of a major sin, but only in the hope that such behaviour may induce him to repent.
d) One should exhaust all avenues in the hope of a reconciliation or resolvement of the matter. Should all fail, one is advised to involve the local Ulema (Scholars of Deen) for further assistance.

5. One desiring male issue should recite The Beautiful Name of Allah, ‘Al-Awwal’ 40 times daily. It is hoped that Allah shall bless him with a son. (Hisnul Haseen Pg 35 Islamic Publications-Crown Mines)
