How do you know if you’re a true Believer or not?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I really don’t know what I believe anymore.

Answer

A believer (Mu?min) or a Muslim is he who believes in:

a) The existence of Allah, the Almighty.

b) The Oneness of Allah and there is no partner to Alah.

c) The qualities of Allah ? being All-Knowing, All-hearing, Most-Powerful, etc.

d) The coming of all the prophets, including Musa (Alayhis salaam) and Eesa (Alayhis salaam).

e) The finality of the prophethood of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam).

f) The Qur’aan being Divinely revealed and the word of Allah.

g) Ahaadith ? the teaching of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) which in essence is also an explanation of the Qur’aan.

h) The angels.

i) Life after death and accountability in the court of Allah.

j) Jannat (paradise) and Jahannum (hell).

The above ten points are briefly the Aqaaid (beliefs) of a Mu?min. If one believes in all the above, he is a believer. However, a true and sincere believer is he who also expresses his submission to Allah by obeying the commands of Allah and His Rasul (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) which are in the Qur’aan and Ahaadith.

The first step for that is to acquire knowledge of the basic teachings of Islam and practice on that.

and Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
