Someone told me that nowhere in any of the four madhabs is that we have to wear our pants or izar above our ankles. Is this true? If it is then but there are hadith which say to do this, so I am confused whether we should do taqleed or what? We are unable to confirm the ruling of the Maaliki Madhab regarding the
length of the beard as mentioned by yourself. However, the ruling of the
following Maaliki scholars apparently contradict your statement:
1. Qaadhi Abdul-Wahhaab (RA) in al-Ma’oonah (vol.3 pg.1706)
2. Imaam Abul-Waleed al-Baaji (RA) in al-Muntaqa (vol.1 pg.266)
3. Ibn Rushd (RA) in al-Bayaan wa Tahseel (vol.17 pg.3391)
4. Al-Qurtubi (RA) in al-Mufhim (vol.1 pg.512 – 513)
5. Muhammad ibn Khulfha al-Ubbi in Ikmaal-ul-Ikmaal-lil-Muslim
After studying the above, you would note that the Madhaahib of Fiqh conform
to Hadith. Hence, there is no reason for your confusion.
We still advise that you consult authentic Maaliki Ulama on this subject.
