Am I religiously allowed to leave a fast because I cant hold my emotions for my wife?

Dear Sir,

I work in Saudi Arabia on permanent visa. I tried calling my wife but couldnt succeed as she didnt clear the medical test. Now it is more than 4 months period since we are separated. I am trying to call her on visit visa. But as the period has exceeded 4 months period and we stayed together only for few days together I am going back in ramadan holidays to my home country to see her. I will arrive my country during fast period. I am planing to leave this fast because I wont be able to hold myself. I will observe this fast afterwards and intend to keep remaining fasts. Am I religiously allowed to leave a fast because I cant hold my emotions for my wife? Please see I am leaving only 1 fast only because I have limited stay in my mother country and not sure If will be able to spend time with my wife again.

Answer

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is permissible for a Musafir (Shar’ee traveler) not to observe the fast of Ramadhaan. However, such a person is obligated to make Qadha of the missed fast/s thereafter.[1]

You have stated that you will only be seeing your wife for a limited period time and intend to miss one fast of Ramadhaan as a result; hence it will be permissible for you to miss the fast in reference and make up for it (Qadha) thereafter.
