Query about the authenticity of a hadith ( fatwa no.3422 ) that mentions 15 punishents for abandoning Salah.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalaam Alaikum Wa’Rahmatullahi Wa’Barakatuhu. Question 1) The hadith is regarding 15 punishments given to that person who abandons Salah. The hadith is ( Number 7 ) mentioned ( on Pages 28-31 [ Urdu ] and Pages 40-42 [ English ] ) in the book Fadhail-e-Namaaz by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Zakariyya ( Rahmatullah Alaih ). Hafidh Ibn Hajar ( Rahmatullah Alaih ) said that it is `manifest falsehood` (Lisan al-Mizan, 5/pp.295-297). Please can you explain the background of this hadith and what scholars have said about it. (Question 2) There is a critical analysis of the hadith at this website i.e. http://www.uh.edu/campus/msa/group/fazail_2.htm . Is the details in this document a correct analysis and conclusion ? (Question 3) If fabricated then why is such a hadith included in Fazail-e-Aamal ? (Question 4) Hadrat Anas ( RadiAllahu Anhu) narrates hadith where recitation of Surah Yaseen is equal to reciting the Quran ten times. The hadith is reported by Tirmidhi and Darimee. Is this Hadith reliable or fabricated. Please state a scholar who has said it is reliable if it is authentic. JazakAllah Khair.

Answer

1 / 2 / 3 Unfortunately, we are unable to verify the status of the Hadith in
question due to the lack of resources. We hope to be able to do so very
soon, Insha Allah. Any Hadith which is fabricated cannot be used for any
reason at all.
4. Imaam Tirmidhi (RA) has classified this Hadith as ‘Hasan, Ghareeb’
(Sound). See Sunan Tirmidhi Hadith No.:3048
