What if a muslim girl’s father disagrees 2 a suitable marriage partner on the basis of lineage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

A non-syed practicing muslim brother has nikka for 4yrs with a Syed girl only intention to stay away from Zinna, boys parents found out rescently & agree, they may be pressuring the girl into marriage ,only believe in marrying their grls 2 Syed boys &very strict, Asked the local imam & he said 2 cut off all ties, it may be 2 late 4 them 2 cut it off now cos its not easy, I mean would you leave your wife or your child, cos that’s the way they feel about each other, girl having nightmares recently & fear 24/7, sleepless nights, what do u think they should do?. Girls doesn’t want the boy or his parents 2 go 2 her house 2 ask for hand cos she thinks its 2 shameful on her. Already had a good sign from a Peer who done Mashwaara/Istikhaara 4 them, What 2 do now?

Answer

The advice of the local Imaam to cut off ties is correct. The objection that it is not easy is baseless. An adulterous relationship can never be justified in Shari?ah.

The boy and girl should bring up the courage and discuss her issue with her mother. She should not hide her felings for the boy. This matter cannot be resolved by concealing it. The girl’s parents should also listen to their daughter and assist her in her difficulties.
