Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

It is indeed a great blessing that Almighty Allah has chosen you to be among those women who are able to give birth. You are from those fortunate ones whom Almighty Allah has used to carry His creation.

We make dua Almighty Allah make the remainder of your pregnancy easy for you. Aameen.

We understand that as a mother it is natural to worry for your child. Do not be too concerned regarding the cleft lip and palate. There are ways to overcome that. Many surgeries exist to help the child live a full and healthy life. Do not let such news impact your attitude negatively. Be positive and hope for the best.

The Ulama have made mention of remedies for such situations. Molana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (Rahimahullah) states that one should recite the following for protection against infantile diseases.[1]

Translation: “Lo! I have put my trust in Allah, My Lord and your Lord.  There is not an animal but He (Allah) grasps it by its forelock!  Lo! My Lord is on the Straight Path.”

One should also recite يا بَدِيْعَ الْعَجائِبِ بِالْخَيْرِ يا بَدِيْعُ (yā Badī’ al-ajā’ib bi al-khayr, yā Badī’) 1200 times daily.

Sister, the biggest weapon in the arsenal of a Muslim is dua to Almighty Allah. There is no task that is too great for Almighty Allah. Turn to Him in your hour of need, cry before him, and Insha-Allah, he will open a way for you. The dua of a mother for her child is seldom left unanswered. Consider the following,

Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullah) was blind when he was young. Numerous treatments were carried out to no avail. His mother was a righteous woman. She used to cry in supplication for the eyesight of her son. One day, Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam) came to her in her dream and said, “Allah has accepted your prayers and the eyesight of your son has been restored.” When Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullah) awoke the next morning, his eyesight had been returned.[2]

Never lose hope in the power and mercy of Almighty Allah. If one turns to Him, surely, He will answer. His door is always open for those who knock.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
