I am struggling with waswasa, what happens if I utter something that conflicts with the teachings of shariah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Salam. I have been experiencing waswasa about different things for a long time. Recently I have started having waswasa that certain statements I am making are shirk/Kufr statements. I realise that I should simply ignore these thoughts. If I tell my partner that I don’t believe wearing pants above the ankles for women is a big deal although I know it is wrong, does that constitute kufr/shirk? Jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You mention that you know you should be ignoring your waswasa. This is correct. You should ignore all waswasas. The statement you made to your wife will not constitute kufr.[1] As you already know, it is impermissible for a woman to expose the area above her ankles to ghair mahram men.[2] [3] [4]
