Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

We are pleased to note your desire to develop a strong bond with Allah Ta’ala.

A beliver ought to love Allah Ta’ala more than anyone else, Allah Ta’ala states in the Quraan Majeed:

Translation:‘And those who believe are most intence in their love for Allah.[Surat Al-Baqarah 165]

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is reported to have said:

Translation: None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.” (Sahih al-Bukhari-15 and Muslim-76)i

Sister, you ask if there are duaas to help you love Allah Ta’ala. You should keep in mind that while making duaa is a great form of ibaadah and very beneficial, that alone is not sufficient. One has to make an effort to attain the closeness and love of Allah Ta’ala.

Allah Ta’ala says in the Quraan Kareem:

Translation: “As for those who strive in Our way, We will certainly guide them onto Our paths, and indeed Allah is with those who are good in deeds.”[Surah Al-Ankabut 69]

Try to follow the Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alahi Wa Sallam

Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Quraan Kareem:

Translation: Say (O Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam): “If you really love Allah, then follow me, and Allah shall love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.” [Surah Aala Imran 31]

Read authentic books on the Seerat of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alahi Wa Sallam, as this will generate love of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam in the heart and the desire to practice on the Sunnah. The Qasidah Burdah of our Honarable Ustaad, Mufti Ebrahim Desei Saheb is very effective in inculcating the love of Allah Ta’ala and Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam. You may access it via the following link: https://daruliftaa.net/qaseeda-burdah/

The book discusses the following topics :

7) Me’raj of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasalam

8) The jihad of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasalam

9) Seeking intercession of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasalam

10) Personal/Secret expressions in making duaa and presenting ones needs

Here are few duaas mentioned in the Ahadeeth:

“Oh Allah! I ask You for Your Love, the love of those who love You, and deeds which will cause me to attain Your Love. O Allah! Make Your Love dearer to me than myself, my family and the cold water).”(Tirmizi-3490) ii

Oh Allah grant me Your love and the love of those whose love will benefit me with You. O Allah, whatever you have provided me of that which I love, then make it strength for me for that which You love. O Allah, and what you have kept from me of that which I love, then make it for me a period of rest in that which You love.”(Tirmizi-3491)iii

“Oh Allah I ask Thee for ability to do such actions which are beloved to Thee and for true reliance on Thee and for a good opinion of Thee.”(Kanzul Ummaal-2/183)iv
