How to deal with whispers from Shaytaan

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalamoalaikum,

I have been affected by wasawis badly. I got lots of wasawis in a day. Questionable and bad thoughts about our religion Islam. They make me very sad and depressed and put me in doubt regarding my imaan.

Lately, thoughts were coming regarding our religion Islam that whether its perfect and i said yes it is. Then thoughts come whether perfect like Allah ta’ala. I thought (in my mind) that it is perfect as it is religion of Allah Ta’ala. Then thoughts come whether it is eternal (going to stay forever) and i said yes it will as it is religion of Allah Ta’ala. Then thoughts come about Quran Majeed , I said yes it is perfect as it is speech of Allah Most High. Like Allah Ta’ala, His speech is eternal. And Allah Ta’ala promised to preserve the Quran until the day of judgment. Then once I said all worship is for Allah Ta’ala, then thought came worship is haq(right) of Allah Ta’ala and I got confused with word ‘haq’ I said to Allah Ta’ala may be in mind that I may not be using right words Allah Ta’ala but all worship is for you alone and later found out that right(haq) word can be used, I just confused with word haq.

Then more thoughts come that astagfirullah regarding the cross sign and about respecting it astagfirullah and i keep saying i don’t respect. When there is some document having cross sign then i get wasawis to not put back there or feet there to disrespect that sign astagfirullah then i say that i don’t care it has nothing to do with our religion and its shirk(cross sign of christians) and our prophet Hazrat Isa alaihiss sallam never taught this.

I cannot tell you enough how much thoughts i have to go through in a day and i try to ignore but at times they get so hard to ignore. I keep doubting my imaan and start crying.

I am asking all of above to dispel the doubts and gain more knowledge.

Whether anything said above or asking this question affect my imaan? is my imaan intact and can you please clear if all my responses to questionable thoughts are correct.

Please please respond to this question, I know its long but please do respond.

JazakAllah khair

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Wasawis and anxiety are interlinked. At times wasawis makes a person anxious. At times anxiety lead to wasawis. You should consult your doctor to treat you from anxiety disorders. You are correct. We have nothing to do or worry about the cross. Just ignore such thoughts. When you experience such thoughts recite [ لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله].
