Should I perform Hajj ut Tamattu’ or Hajj ul Ifrad?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I performed Umrah after Ramadan and returned to Riyadh where my home is. Now, if I have to perform Hajj, is it necessary for me to perform Hajj e Tammatu’ or would it be permissible for me to perform Hajj e Ifraad since I did leave the the boundaries of meeqaat. Would highly appreciate an explanation for the answer.

Awaiting a response.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātu

Brother in Islam,

In the enquired situation, it is not necessary to perform Hajj ut Tamattu’.[1]

You may perform any Hajj you wish i.e. Ifraad, Tamattu’ or Qiraan. The most virtuous Hajj is Qiraan.[2]

Hajj ul Ifraad is when one intends to solely perform Hajj and don the Ihram of Hajj only.

Hajj ut Tamattu’ is when one intends to perform both Umrah and Hajj in the months of Hajj with two separate Ihrams on condition he does not go home.

Hajj ul Qiraan is when one intends to perform Hajj and Umrah with one Ihram. He will not take off his Ihram after the Umrah, until he has completed his Hajj.
