Changing ones name after marriage

Asalamu alaikum, i live in the UK. Normally when you get married and do a registry a woman has the choice to change her last name (family or fathers name) into the husband last name. Is it permissible in islam for the woman to change her last name?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for a woman to change her surname to her husband’s surname.[1]
