Letter ‘Ya’ of Attribution

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

As-salamu ‘alaykum!

Should we pronounce the letter “ي” while mentioning the names of madhahibs or scholars, like:

Hanafi Madhhab (الحنفي), Imam Al-Bukhari (البخاري), Naqshibandi Tariqah (النقشبندي), Mufti Muhammad Taqi ‘Uthmani (محمد تقي عثماني) etc.?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The letter ‘ya’ at the end of the words mentioned should be pronounced.

And Allah Ta‘ālā Knows Best.
