What can we do if our class times in school are the same as salaah times?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalam alaykum. Students who live in non Muslim country where school and college timings contradict our Salah timings preventing them to pray Salah during classes timings. So can we delay the salah for that reason and pray it later? Plz reply

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.

Allah Ta`ala says in the Quran;

{وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي} [طه: 14]

“Establish salaah for my remembrance”. (Sura Taha, Verse 14)

In another verse Allah Ta`ala mentions;

{وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ} [النور: 56]

“And establish salaah, discharge zakaah and obey The Messenger so mercy can be shown upon you”. (Suratun Noor, Verse 56).

Abdullah ibnu Mas`ood (Radi Allahu Anhu) asked Rasulullah ﷺ, which action is most beloved to Allah? Rasulullah ﷺ replied;

“الصلاةُ على وقتِها”

مختصر صحيح الإمام البخاري (1/ 183)

 “Salaah on its prescribed time”.[1]

(Saheeh Bukhari, Vol 1, Pg 183)

Allah Ta`ala says;

{إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَوْقُوتًا} [النساء: 103]

“Indeed, salaah has been ordained on the believers on a prescribed time”. (Suratun Nisaa, Verse 103)

You enquire if students can perform salaah later.

What do you mean by later?

You may obtain the perpetual salaah calendar and use that to perform salaah before the ending time of salaah. It is incorrect to leave out salaah completely and to make salaah qadhaa due to classes.

A believer is sensitive to performing salaah on time. He should do whatever it takes for him to perform salaah within the salaah time.

And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.

Hussein Muhammad.
