Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asssalamu alaikum

I need your help to get understand about the vehicle insurance in this country. Here insurance is mandatory to buy the new private vehicle and also for registration renewal every 3 year. Once your renewal completed you can avoid buying the insurance for next two years. in this time police may charge you 40$ in case they catch you. Normally police not asking the insurance while check post.

In case of accident you shall pay the total amount if it is happened from you.

What is your advice to go for insurance in this situation. It is acceptable to buy ?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

All types of car insurance are haraam whether it is third party insurance or comprehensive insurance as it involves interest and gambling. If, however, one is obliged by the law of the country to do so, then one will be excused to take out third party insurance. [1]
