Query about the wife of Hadhrath Mu’awiyah Radhyallahu ‘Anhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Salamun alaykum!

Is it true that one of the wives of Hz. Mu’awiya (radiyallahu anhu) is Hz. Ummu Salama’s young sister, named Karriba? I heard this from Shaykh Mumtazu-l-Haqq (hafidhahullah) in a lecture, but I couldn’t find anything about it.

I’m waiting for your response,
jazakumullahu khayran was-salamu alaykum!

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear Brother,

Qaribah Bint Abi Umayyah was the sister of Ummu Salamah Radhyallahu ‘Anha and the wife of Umar Radhyallahu ‘Anhu. Hadhrath Umar Radhyallahu ‘Anhu divorced her, thereafter, she married Hadhrath Mu’awiyah Radhyallahu ‘Anhu.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
