Leaving part of the face dry when making Wudhu?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

If a man was not aware of the right method of washing face in wudu, in fact, some part of his face remained dry because he did not put water there, would he have to say again the prayers he performed with such wudu? It is important to note that he was not aware of the right way of doing wudu, he becomes aware of his ignorance after 10 years.

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, washing the entire face is a compulsory act of wudhu without which the wudhu is not valid. Salaah is not valid without wudhu[1].

Accordingly, those Salaats performed with part of the face remaining dry must be repeated.

An easy way to repeat missed Salaats is that before the current Salaah, you perform a missed Salaah of the same type (i.e. you perform a missed zuhar before performing the current Zuhar).
