My name is …. I come from a family of 7.6 sisters from the same mother and and brother from my step mum whom my father divorced. Before my father died he gave an apartment house to my brother. And now now that my father is dead, my brother insist that he has to to part of the remaining inheritance which is land and a few houses where we all live. Please enlighten me on the rulings of Allah.

All your father’s children, including your step brother, will inherit from your father’s estate. The apartment given by your father to his son (your step brother) during his lifetime does not disqualify your step brother from inheriting from your father’s estate.[i]
