I am a cab driver. Very often I am compelled to pray in a masjid wherein the Imam is known to wipe over socks which are at odds with the conditions laid down by Hanafi scholars. Do I have to repeat my Salat?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Only those prayers have to be repeated wherein you have witnessed the Imam wipe over such socks and subsequently lead the prayer. You do not have to repeat those prayers in which you are uncertain whether he wiped over such socks.[i]

الحاصل أن الاقتداء بالشافعي على ثلاثة أقسام الأول أن يعلم منه الاحتياط في مذهب الحنفي فلا كراهة في الاقتداء به الثاني أن يعلم منه عدمه فلا صحة لكن اختلفوا هل يشترط أن يعلم منه عدمه في خصوص ما يقتدي به أو في الجملة صحح في النهاية الأول وغيره اختار الثاني وفي فتاوى الزاهدي إذا رآه احتجم ثم غاب فالأصح أنه يصح الاقتداء به لأنه يجوز أن يتوضأ احتياطا وحسن الظن به أولى الثالث أن لا يعلم شيئا فالكراهة ولا خصوصية لمذهب الشافعي بل إذا صلى حنفي خلف مخالف لمذهبه فالحكم كذلك
