Continuous urine drops

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalam O Alaikum. I’m going on Hajj this year In Sha Allah. I have a problem of urine drops leaking after urinating and this problem can stay for over an hour after passing urine. This problem has also affected me to perform Salah sometimes since I feel I’m always unclean. Since I have planned for hajj, I am worried how I will stay in ahram for such a long time with this problem? I want my my hajj to be accepted and want it to be perfect. please advise what should I do since I am very worried.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

May Almighty Allah grant you a Hajj Mabroor. Aameen

After relieving yourself, it is necessary for you to practice istibraa [1] i.e. taking the appropriate actions to ensure all urine has exited the body.[2] Some people stand and walk, while others simply shake their lower body. The most effective way to of doing Istibraa is to place one’s fingers on the area just below the scrotum and press that area while moving one’s hand upwards. One should continue doing this several times, until all the remaining drops of urine are discharged from the urethra. Different people need to adapt different methods depending on their bodies.  Despite istibraa, if you still experience urine drops, you may wear an unstitched underwear like an adult nappy to absorb the urine.

If you are in the habit of experiencing doubts and you are not certain about the urine drops, then you may sprinkle water around your private parts or underpants and attribute the wetness to the water.

Then too if your urine continuously flows for a complete salaah time, not leaving enough time to perform wudhu and fard salaah then you will be regarded as a Ma’zur. A Ma’zur performs wudhu for every salaah time. His wudhu will remain intact for the complete salaah time. The expiry of the salaah time and any other impurity besides the urine drops will break his wudhu. [3]
