Due to a tragedy in my life, I have lost interest in everything.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalaam,

I am working in an MNC with great job roles and responsibilities. However, currently i dont have that interest and spirit to work like how it was before. I was very active in terms of work and responsbilities. Due, to some tragedy in my life some year before i lost the interest in everything viz. life, work, social acitiviteis, etc.

I want everything to be back in my life.

I do perform namaz and sometime zikr (tasbih). but everything looks very difficult.

Please advise!

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Almighty Allah Ta`ala mentions in the Holy Quraan;

 “Most definitely we will test you with a bit of fear, hunger and with a shortage in wealth, life and fruit. So give glad tidings to those who exercise patience”.

The tragedy you refer to is a test of your Imaan. You should be patient and turn to Allah with Salaah and Zikr. You should place your trust in Allah and be positive. You should never be negative as that leads to despair. Remember the incident of Ayub Alayhis Salaam. Allah blessed him with wealth and health. He faced the tragedy of ill health and he lost all of his wealth. He displayed patience and focused on Allah and His Mercy. He finally made dua;

“Difficulty has certainly afflicted me and you are the most Merciful of those who show mercy”

Also remember the incident of Yunus Alayhis Salaam. He was trapped in multiple darkness in the belly of a fish. He was hopeful and turned to Allah;

“He called out in the darkness, there is no Deity but you. You are pure. I have certainly been from amongst the wrongdoers”.

Allah responded to his cry;

“We responded to him, and rescued him from the distress. Similarly do we rescue the believers”

Focus on Allah`s Mercy, be positive and make dua. Allah will respond to you in whichever way Allah knows best in His infinite and absolute knowledge.

And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.

Hussein Muhammad.
