Will a cat walking around the house spread impurity in the house?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Keeping indoor cat’s

Assalamulaykum.  I would like to ask what the ruling in Islam is regarding keeping cats in the house? The main concern I have is, I would like to keep a indoor cat which uses a litter tray inside the house to go to the toilet, the cat walks into the tray and then does what it needs to do and then it covers the faeces by kicking litter and covering it using its paws and then it starts walking around the house, I would like to know if this would make my house impure?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.

You may keep a cat as a pet. The cat kicking litter over its impurity and walking around the house will not make the house impure. [1]
