Dear Imam, my question is on behalf of a friend. During Ramadan, he was fasting, and on one or two occasions he looked at a different picture of a girl in her underwear, but not to intentionally excite himself (he just was curious about the words on the poster). Only later did he realise his mistake that he should not have looked at such things, and was very remorseful. He tried to find answers to this problem online but was unsuccessful.
What he needs to know is that has his fast been invalidated, because even though he looked at them deliberately, the severity of his actions only occurred to him later. He is very upset by this, because he had been very steadfast during Ramadan upto now, but this action has gone an ruined everything. Please help!!! Jazakallah Khair.

Dear Brother,
It is strictly haram (strictly prohibited) to look at immoral pictures at all times. It is a major sin to do so. If one looked at an immoral picture in the state of fasting, that defeats the object of fasting which is to exercise restraint against one’s carnal desires. Your friend is remorseful. Advise him to exercise caution in future.
In any case, his fast was valid.
