I work in C&E department of an investment research and investment management firm.
My department (C&E) handles data related to following types.
Financial – 7.8% Future Exchanges & Options – 17% Economic Indicators & Statistics – 4.9%
Note: Financial data includes information related to interest rates of various banks in the world.
Also there is data related to futures contracts and intra-day trading.Remaining data is related to below types.Agriculture, Coal, Emissions, Energy, European Natural Gas, European Power, Freight, Metals, Natural Gas, Oil, Petrochemical Products, Power, Rig Count, WeatherAll this data comes from 200+ commodity exchanges all over the world. company i work in, analyzes and arranges this data and provides it to it’s customers.I work as a system administrator in C&E department. My job is to look after Servers(computers) on which this data is present and do house keeping of softwares which collects this data. I do not directly work with the data related to commodities present on these servers. I am not even aware of values of the data.Please let me know wether my salary is halal or mashbooh or haram? If Mashbooh please let me know if i can use this salary for doing good deeds like sadqa, donation to masjid, donation to someone else etc ? Can i use it to buy meher for my Nikah ??

وَقَالَ ابن التِّينِ لَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثَيِ الْبَابِ ذِكْرٌ لِكَاتِبِ الرِّبَا وَشَاهِدِهِ وَأُجِيبَ بِأَنَّهُ ذَكَرَهُمَا عَلَى سَبِيلِ الْإِلْحَاقِ لِإِعَانَتِهِمَا لِلْآكِلِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَهَذَا إِنَّمَا يَقَعُ عَلَى مَنْ وَاطَأَ صَاحِبَ الرِّبَا عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَّا مَنْ كَتَبَهُ أَوْ شَهِدَ الْقِصَّةَ لِيَشْهَدَ بِهَا عَلَى مَاهِيَ عَلَيْهِ لِيَعْمَلَ فِيهَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَذَا جَمِيلُ الْقَصْدِ لَا يَدْخُلُ فِي الْوَعِيدِ الْمَذْكُورِ وَإِنَّمَا يَدْخُلُ فِيهِ مَنْ أَعَانَ صَاحِبَ الرِّبَا بِكِتَابَتِهِ وَشَهَادَتِهِ فَيُنَزَّلُ مَنْزِلَةَ مَنْ قَالَ إِنَّمَا البيع مثل الرِّبَا (فتح الباري 4314)
در اصل بینک کی ملازمت نا جائز ہونےکی دو وجہیں ہو سکتی ہیں،ایک وجہ یہ ہے کہ ملازمت میں سود وغیرہ کے نا جائز معاملات میں اعانت ہے،دوسرے یہ کہ تنخاہ حرام مال سے ملنے کا احتمال ہےان میں سے پہلی وجہیں یعنی حرام کاموں میں مدد کا جہاں تک تعلق ہے،شریعت میں مدد کے مختلف درجے ہیں،ہر درجہ حرام نہیں،بلکہ صرف وہ مدد ناجائز ہےجو براہ راست حرام کام میں ہوں،مثلا سودی معاملہ کرنا،سود کا معاملہ لکھنا،سود کی رقم وصول کرنا وغیرہ-لیکن اگر براہ راست سودی معاملہ میں انسان کو ملوث نہ ہونا پڑے، بلکہ اس کام کی نوعیت ایسی ہو جیسے ڈرائیور،چپراسی،یا جائز ریسرچ وغیرہ تو اس میں چونکہ براہ راست مدد نہیں ہے،اس لئے اس کی گنجا ئش ہے (فتاوی عثمانی3/396)
