Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You did not explain the details of your son clearly. Was he a minor  or adult?

In any case, we share in your grief and pain. May Allah lighten your burden and grant you the courage to overcome this challenge. The pain of the death of your son ,whether minor or adult comes with great rewards. See the following Ahadith:

Hadith 1

Translation:

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari Radiallahu Anhu Narrated:

The Messenger of Allah () said, “When a man’s child dies, Allah, the Exalted, asks His angels, ‘Have you taken out the life of the child of My slave?’ and they reply in the affirmative. Allah (Subhanahu Wata’ala) then asks, ‘Have you taken the fruit of his heart?’ and they reply in the affirmative. Thereupon He asks, ‘What did my slave say?’ They say: ‘He praised You and said: Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return).’ Allah says: ‘Build a house for my slave in Jannah and name it Baitul-Hamd (the House of Praise).”‘ [Tirmizi: 922]

This hadith is general and includes any child, minor or adult.

Hadith 2

Hazrat Ibn ‘Abbaas Radiyallahu ‘Anhu Radiallahu Anhu said:

“Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam said: ‘The person that loses two infants, then Allah in return will surely grant that person entrance into Jannah!’. ‘Aayeshah Radiyallahu ‘Anha asked: ‘The one who has lost only one infant from among your ummah?’ He replied: ‘The one that loses only one infant shall also be forgiven’. ‘Aayeshah Radiyallahu ‘Anha then inquired: ‘What of those who have not lost any children from among your ummah?’ He replied: ‘I shall be an asset for him in the hereafter, because the loss due to my death shall be felt more than one’s family and children'”.[Shamaail muhammadiyah: 398]

Hadith 3

Hazrat Abu Sa’id Khudri Radiallahu Anhu reported:

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah () and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Only men benefit from your talks, so please fix a day for us, to teach us the knowledge which Allah has taught you.” The Messenger of Allah () fixed a day and directed them to assemble. When they gathered, the Prophet () went to them and taught them what Allah had taught him. He () then said, “Any woman of you whose three children die (in infancy) they will be a guard for her against Fire (of Hell).” One of the women asked: “What if she loses two?” The Messenger of Allah ()replied”Eventwo.” [Bukhari:99, Muslim:4786]
